Meet the WAO-Team USA

The WAO Team USA is a group of dogs and handlers that represent the USA at the World Agility Open each year. The Teams compete in individual events as well as an overall Team competition. Dogs run in Snooker and Gamblers as well as Agility and Jumpers, so many skills are required for success. The Team is chosen at the UKI US Open in November each year. The WAO takes place in May. In 2016 the WAO was held in Addington, England.

Dogs and handlers compete in three individual events. Pentathlon which is made up of five runs. Biathlon which is a two run competition and Games which is the combined scores in Gamblers and Snooker. Team USA had two podium placements in Pentathlon this year. Abbey Beasley and her Shetland Sheepdog Dreamer won Gold in the 400 height. Tracy Hirsch and her Border Collie Silver won Bronze at the 525 height.

In Team competition the USA won Gold. Team is made up of two rounds of Agility, two rounds of Jumping and a four dog Relay. Three dogs run each of the events so there are 12 runs combined for the total team score, plus the Relay. The Team put together four great rounds and were in first place going into the relay.
